FREDERICTON, NB – Every academic year, the UNB Business Administration Undergraduate Society honors a graduating Business Administration student with the Encaenia award. This award is given to a student who has never sat on the BAUS executive, and who has taken initiative towards bettering not only their own but all other BBA students’ university experience.
This year, the BAUS is very excited to announce that the chosen recipient for the Encaenia award is Michael Simmie.
Michael has just graduated from the BBA program here at UNB with a concentration in marketing and human resources. Having first started his degree at UNBSJ for two years before coming to Fredericton he has taken lots of opportunities to enjoy and get involved in his university years. He also has shown great initiative and leadership through his involvement. He was an active contributor to Shinerama including acting as chair in 2015 and 2019 as well as orientation chair. Michael was also a peer mentor for the BBA faculty this year for the current house cup champions, Borden Bulldogs. Go Bulldogs!
Along with his volunteer contributions Michael has also taken advantage of the many Conferences and seminars offered to students here at UNB. Including serving as a delegate for the Rocky Mountain Business Seminar this year and was also a Sports Business Conference delegate in 2018.
Michael has shown his passion for the business workforce by serving three different Co-op terms through his years at UNB. Working for businesses such as Saint John Energy and Opportunities New Brunswick where he was also offered a 8-month work term. There he worked as a Digital Engagement Coordinator.
Congratulations Michael Simmie, the BAUS wishes you all the best in your future endeavours!
