BAUS Excellence Gala Awards Nominations
Celebrating BBA students is at the core of the BAUS Excellence Gala–and our partners agree. Thanks to their generous support, we're opening nominations for FIVE BAUS Excellence Awards for the first time. Maybe you've created a high-growth ICT startup, lead a food security project in your community, or started a new business club on campus, you deserve to be recognized.

McCain’s Super Together Award
This award is presented to a University of New Brunswick Undergraduate Business Administration Student who has exhibited outstanding involvement in the business faculty.
The ideal award recipient is a full-time BBA student who is considered to be authentic by their peers, have shown a commitment to the faculty by continually being involved with groups and clubs, does the right thing even when not expected, has genuine relationships with their peers and members of the faculty, trusted by their peers, and is in their second year of study or above.
Faculty of Business Administration Leadership Award
This award is presented to a University of New Brunswick Undergraduate Business Administration Student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership within the business faculty.
The ideal award recipient is a full-time BBA student that has strong leadership skills, an excellent role model, inspires others to work collaboratively and creatively, demonstrates initiative, promotes a work environment that is respectful, and can be in any year of study.
The Planet Hatch Going Global Award
This award is to honour a UNB undergraduate business student who has demonstrated a passion for business on a global scale, thinks beyond New Brunswick's borders, and has had experience as a representative of our province abroad.
The ideal recipient is a BBA student who has demonstrated initiative and business acumen, has gone abroad for study or extracurricular activities and is planning a career in the global marketplace. The recipient can be in any year of study.
IBEC Paramount Achievement Award
This award is presented to a University of New Brunswick Undergraduate Business Administration Student who has achieved high academic standing in the past year.
The ideal award recipient is a full-time BBA student that has demonstrated a strong understanding of concepts, models, and tools from functional areas of business, possess effective communication skills, involved with the business faculty, supportive of peers, and can be in any year of study.
Opportunities New Brunswick Entrepreneurship Award
This award is presented to a University of New Brunswick Undergraduate Business Administration student who have demonstrated great entrepreneurial spirit, has empowered those in the start-up community and at UNB; a student who believes in making a difference in the province through his/her innovative ideas.
The ideal award recipient is a full-time BBA student; a risk-taker who faces ambiguity with enthusiasm. A creator of the concept and strategy to launch his/her business including the evolution of the business model. Evidence that the individual is an independent thinker with high standards relating to themselves and their business. Demonstrates perseverance in the face of adversity and his/her determination to be successful and can be in any year of study.
Laura O’Blenis is a business executive with over 23 years' experience in leading change, generating results, marketing products and services, and successfully negotiating new business opportunities and contracts. She has spent the past 12 years of her career focused on research and technology parks in the domestic and international markets and the previous 11 years in property and real estate management with real estate giant Cadillac Fairview. A trained facilitator, Laura is the founder of Stiletto, (an economic development impact consulting firm), co-founder of the Canadian Association of University Research Parks (AURP Canada) and founding Executive Director of New Brunswick’s Knowledge Park. She is an MBA candidate, chair of the Start-up Canada National Ecosystem Task Force, past-chair of the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance CanWIT Atlantic Chapter, a past president of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Fredericton Executive Association.
Laura brings a wealth of knowledge in export markets and has worked with companies of all industries (from retail, to high-tech to manufacturing) in successfully expanding into new markets (domestic and international). She has specific expertise in the Canadian, United States and European markets and specializes in commercialization, innovation, technology park concept developments, export-market expansion and partnership development. She was awarded the Startup Canada Female Entrepreneur of the Year for Atlantic Canada in 2016 and was a finalist for Business Person of the Year for the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce in 2018.

Wu Conference Centre
The BAUS Excellence Gala marks yet another year when Business Administration students take over the Chancellor's Room at UNB's state-of-the-art Wu Conference Centre. With a limited amount of seats, this exclusive space allows for intimate conversations and a room-filling keynote presentation. This venue provides a unique experience for all attendees of the BAUS Excellence Gala, whether they have attended a Gala before, or it is their first time.
